About Suchismita


Suchismita is a serious exponent of Indian Classical Music. As she is proficient in presenting Indian Ragas & Thumris, she is equally at ease presenting the other forms like Ghazal, Film & Fusion.
Thomas Newman invited her to sing and co-compose the score for the golden globe award nominee film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
A R Rahman chose her for the duet song with him Jagao Mere Des Ko for MTV Coke Studio India;
Suchismita works between LA and Mumbai, with homes and studios in both cities.




Training


She was born with the gift of appreciating good music. Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib’s music mesmerized her at a very young age. Her mother gifted her an audio cassette of the great master when she was only six years old, which she would listen and hum along with him repeatedly. Suchismita's musical journey began when she was seven. Her talent was recognized at the age of eight when she won a singing competition organized by the Russian Consulate, Kolkata. She got the opportunity to learn Hindustani Classical Music in the style of Patiala Gharana for two decades. She gained national recognition at the age of seventeen when she achieved the first position in the All India Radio music competition. Her craftsmanship stems from her rigorous practice regime which continues till today. She has done innumerous live performances across the globe in last fifteen years.
